Mowafak Al-Jassim is a Principal Scientist and Group Leader at the National Center for Photovoltaics, which is part of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). Located in Colorado, USA, NREL is the premier laboratory in renewable energy R&D in the United States.
Mowafak received his M.Sc. and DIC from Imperial College of Science and Technology, London, and D. Phil. degree from the University of Oxford in Materials Science. He has worked at NREL for 26 years, beginning as a postdoctoral researcher and advancing to a principal scientist and technical manager. His work involves solar energy materials, photovoltaic devices, thin film solar cells and nano structures. Dr. Al-Jassim has over 300 publications and has won many awards, including the prestigious NREL Chairman Award.
